Manila City Jail warden replaced over complaints from detainees

Manila City Jail warden Lyndon Torres has been relieved after more than 300 detainees protested their supposed ill treatment at the jail.

The detainees were complaining of a shortage of electricity and food, a charge that the jail will be investigating.

Jail Superintendent Noel Montalvo has been assigned to temporarily take over while the investigation is ongoing, a Radio DZMM report said.

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has also ordered a separate investigation into the matter.
