We’re sure Manila will be hit with a lot of protests over this.
“Mayor Joseph Estrada and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno announced in a dialogue with drivers and operators on Friday, May 23, that tricycles, pedicabs and the latter’s motorized version known as kuliglig will no longer be allowed on 46 roads in the city,” reports Erika Sauler in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The report added that owners will also have to register the vehicles and apply for a new franchise since new routes will be drawn up.
The ban on three-wheeled vehicles will be enforced on the following roads:
Roxas Boulevard, Pablo Ocampo (from Taft Avenue to Roxas Boulevard), Pablo Ocampo (from Taft to Osmeña Highway), MH del Pilar (from Kalaw to Pablo Ocampo), Mabini (from Kalaw to Pablo Ocampo), Osmeña Highway, Quirino Avenue, Taft Avenue, Kalaw, UN Avenue;
San Marcelino (from Quirino Avenue to Romualdez Street), Pedro Gil (from Quirino to Panaderos), Guazon Avenue, Quirino Avenue Extension, Ayala Boulevard, Padre Faura, Padre Burgos Avenue, Finance Road, Lawton, Natividad Lopez (Arroceros);
Antonio Villegas, Ayala Bridge, Quezon Bridge, McArthur Bridge, Jones Bridge, P. Casal (from Ayala Bridge to Mendiola), CM Recto Avenue (from Mendiola to Abad Santos), Legarda Street, Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, V. Mapa Street;
