The suspect in the abduction, and sale, of a one-year-old boys snatched in Barangay San Antonio, Quezon City has been arrested by the Quezon City Police District.
Anthony Dimalanta, alias Dennis Nabua, was arrested on a tip from a concerned resident in Bgy. Masambong in the same city. He had been in hiding for 20 days.
According to a DZMM report, Dimalanta blamed the abduction and sale of the baby on his addiction to methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu.
The baby, Lovelio “Buboy” Mendoza, was snatched on April 2. A couple returned him to his parents soon after, saying someone had sold them the baby for P1,200.
Dimalanta, who was seen taking “Buboy” on security camera footage, has apologized for kidnapping the baby but he still faces a human trafficking charge.
Earlier this month, a series of cases of children going missing prompted the National Capital Region Police Office to form a task force to look into the disappearances.
