Shoppers go gaga over free samples of almost anything. Iced tea? Yes, please! A new kind of sandwich spread? Gimme it. But what about rat poison?

A man selling rat poison went viral over the weekend when he added one special touch to his signage — a free “taste” for interested buyers who are curious about how deadly it is.

Facebook user Joshua Uy posted the now-viral video on Thursday after seeing the signage in Quiapo, Manila. He said in the post: “This person in Quiapo has a nice marketing strategy.”

Included in the photo are some sachets of the rat poison.

The Facebook post had over 39,000 shares and 16,000 likes as of this article’s posting.

While the vendor obviously meant it as a free “taste” for rats and not people, netizens found the marketing strategy hilarious, and even jokingly urged friends to test it out.

Facebook user Patrick Ian tagged a friend and said: “You try and taste it.”

“You’re fond of free tastes, right?” Pauline Virgo Flores asked her friend.

“I want to try this,” said a certain Dean Carlos.

Kyla Dawn Bacani wrote in Filipino: “This is too much AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA”

Camille Ilaya said: “His marketing strategy is so savage.”

Real talk, kids: test the poison on rats, not humans.
