Breaking into your former alma mater and stealing things won’t make you look good at your class reunion. For the record, the thief in this story graduated from the school in 2005.
Christopher Santos, 21, was arrested before dawn on Friday, April 11 after he broke into and stole from the Libis Elementary School along Boni Serrano Avenue in Quezon City. Police later revealed that Santos had been a student at the very same school.
According to a Philstar.com report, “barangay watchmen chanced upon Santos as he was leaving the school with a computer and monitor at around 10:30pm on Thursday, April 10, but he was able to evade arrest and left the equipment worth PHP43,000 on the pavement.”
Luckily, Santos was arrested two hours later at a bingo gaming center he frequented in Eastwood City, Barangay Bagumbayan.
Police later found out that prior to being seen by the barangay watchmen, Santos had already hauled some gadgets from the school. The report said he “was able to enter the school by forcing open the iron grills of the window.”
So, what’s Santos’ theft total for the things he had already taken prior to his encounter with the barangay watchmen? This: A computer and monitor worth PHP52,000, an LCD monitor worth PHP21,000, and two closed-circuit television cameras worth PHP3,700, and a CCTV system worth PHP37,000.
