Jeepney driver Rolando Reformato Jr., 33, stabbed to death his three children — 2 boys aged 9 and 14 and a girl aged 5 — at their home at the corner of Dapitan and San Diego Streets in Manila late Mon evening, Aug 31. Reformato also stabbed himself in the chest, but he survived. He was brought to the Philippine General hospital.
Initial investigation revealed that Reformato was distraught because he and his wife, Angeli, 33, had been separated for several weeks. The latter said Reformato had been physically abusive to her.
“According to Angeli, she had received a message from Rolando sometime near midnight saying that if she did not talk to him, he would do something to their kids,” reports Inquirer.net.
Thus, Angeli rushed home but Reformato did not let her in. She then sought the help of barangay officials. When they managed to get in, though, they came upon a gruesome sight.
Probers later found a suicide note which Reformato wrote in his own blood.
Authorities are investigating if Reformato was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
