While doing the “sabit” is considered normal, it’s not exactly safe.
“On Tuesday morning, John Paul Luyat, 19, hopped on a fully-packed jeepney bound for Binangonan, Rizal,” reports Dennis Datu on ABS-CBNnews.com.
As customary for “sabit” rides, Luyat was holding on to the metal bar near the jeepney’s passenger entrance.
While the jeepney was going through Nuebe de Pebrero Street, Luyat decided to pay the jeepney fare. He let go of the bar as he tried to get some coins from his pocket. Not surprisingly, he fell off the jeepney.
Luckily, Luyat only sustained what seemed to be a minor head wound.
The emergency team of Barangay Wack-Wack gave him first aid treatment. They also brought him to the Mandaluyong Medical Center to make sure his injury was truly not serious.
