Most Filipinos know by now that walking around without a mask will get you in trouble, but baker Anthony Irinco turned out to be the exception.
Irinco was arrested earlier this week in Santa Cruz, Manila for not wearing a face mask, which has been made mandatory in the country since the start of the pandemic. When cops verified his identity, they learned that not only did he flout health protocols, but it turned out that Irinco was the suspect behind a colleague’s murder.

However, Irinco denied that he killed his former co-worker, identified as Vince Toling. He said a certain Ryan, another colleague, was the one who killed the victim and added that he was not able to report the crime to the police because he didn’t know what to do.
“Vince ran away to get a knife. Ryan stood up then took a tool that was used to make bread. He hit him several times. Ryan picked up the knife and stabbed Vince,” Irinco told the news program Unang Balita in English.
The authorities have launched a manhunt to look for the other suspect.
