Mall janitress held hostage in Cavite

A hostage-taking incident was reported at the busy SM Dasmariñas mall in Cavite on Sun, Oct 9, prompting a lockdown of the establishment.

According to Dasmariñas police chief Rodolfo Hernandez, the incident was caused by a “love triangle” involving a married couple.

The suspect was a mall employee who used a kitchen knife to take hostage a janitress inside a comfort room, Hernandez told radio DZMM.

A Facebook video uploaded by Geoff Ellorin shows mallgoers at a food court running in panic away from the supposed hostage-taking site.

The mall management has closed stores and instructed people to go to safer areas.

Police officers were still investigating the incident at around 1:45 p.m.  ABS-CBN News

UPDATE: Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla confirms to the Phlippine Daily Inquirer that there’s one casualty in the hostage taking incident
