Malaysia Airlines to let go of 6,000 employees

This could be the airline company’s worst year.

In March, Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 bound for went missing as it headed for Beijing. The plane had 227 passengers from 15 nations, as well as 12 Malaysian crew members.

In July, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine. All all 283 passengers and 15 crew members perished.

“Now, Malaysia Airlines will cut 30% of its workforce as part of a restructuring that will cost 6 billion ringgit (US$1.90 billion),”reports Reuters on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report said the airline “will trim its staff by 6,000 to 14,000 as it seeks to stem long-running losses worsened by two aircraft disasters this year.”
