Malacañang Palace got some flak when it was revealed that Pinoy figure skater Michael Christian Martinez’s mother, Maria Teresa, sent an email to them on October 27, 2013—and got no response.
Now, the folks at Malacañang have an explanation for what happened. *”On Tuesday, Feb 18, Malacañang reiterated on that the Office of the President did not receive an electronic mail (email) from the mother of Olympic figure skater Michael Martinez, saying the message probably went to the junk folder,” reports Louis Bacani on Philstar.com.
In a televised briefing, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Herminio Coloma Jr. explained, “Ayon sa ulat, hindi natanggap yung email message na ‘yon. Ang inoffer na possibility ay napunta iyon sa spam (According to accounts, the email message wasn’t received. I was told that it most probably went to the spam folder).”
Coloma went on to say that “by protocol, Malacañang staff will no longer go over the spam emails since these have implications to the security of the President’s website.”
