Malacañang dismisses rumors of Lacson-Singson rift

Denials from the Palace are often the subject of speculation and debate. So, brace yourself because this looks like a hot issue.

“In a press briefing on Thursday, Jan 9, Presidential Communication Operations Office Sec. Sonny Coloma dismissed speculation that rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Sec. Rogelio Singson are at odds over the bunkhouses for Yolanda survivors,” reports ANC.

The report explained: “Lacson has earlier called for a probe into reports two local government officials were getting kickbacks in the construction of temporary shelters for the super typhoon’s survivors. Singson, on the other hand, offered to resign if the bunkhouses were found to be overpriced.”

According to a GMA News Online report, Singson reportedly said “each 8.64-square unit costs P34,834 while each 17.28-square meter unit costs PHP65,715 to build.”

So, naturally, people would assume that the two men are not on the same page.

However, Coloma said, “(President Noynoy Aquino) called on everybody to work together given this perspective so that we will be able to do everything that needs to be done.”

That’s not really an answer, is it?
