Did they get so mad that they had to coin a new phrase?
“Malacañang insists that there is no power supply problem in Luzon and Visayas, unlike in Mindanao, although some power plants are up for maintenance shutdown soon,” reports Ina Andolong on Solar News Online.
This is why the Palace isn’t too happy with the fact that Meralco officials have been warning the public of “possible brownouts in Luzon due to a tight power supply.”
Presidential Communication Operations Office Sec. Sonny Coloma was quoted as saying, “In place of drawing negative scenarios, it’s better to focus attention on positive steps, such as the government effort to ensure stable supply that will help avoid power outages.”
Then again, the report pointed out that “it was Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla who warned on Monday of a possible power outage this summer.” Petilla had stated, “Our forecast doesn’t indicate a deficiency although the reserves are thin. In case one power plant goes, then there could be disruptions.”
So who’s telling the truth?
