Cities in Northern Metro Manila are bracing its residents for the onslaught of the rainy season – and the flooding that comes with it.
The City of Malabon, for example, has purchased 24 closed-circuit television (CCTV) units which will be installed in key areas. This will help authorities monitor floods and rain more efficiently, and in turn, aid them in making decisions faster – especially when it comes to suspending classes.
Malabon has learned to live with flooding even without torrential rains. The city is the catchbasin for water coming from Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, and as far as the Obando, Bulacan area. Besides the CCTV units, Malabon also procured fiber glass boats, scuba suits, rescue vehicles and other rescue equipment, ABS CBN News reported.
