Making peace: Sen. Miriam Santiago gets roses from Rep. Rudy Fariñas

The dragon lady has a soft spot, after all.

“Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago and Ilocos Norter 1st District Rep. Rudy Fariñas made peace on Wednesday, September 17, after their brief spat during a Commission on Appointments hearing last week,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

A photo shared on Santiago’s official Twitter page showed Fariñas giving her a bouquet of roses.

The photo had this caption: “I humbly believe that there’s no need for apology on either side. Instead, as usual, I hold out the hand of friendship.”

Santiago—in her first public appearance in two months after announcing that she had Stage 4 lung cancer—had walked out of a CA foreign affairs committee hearing last September 10 after Fariñas questioned her authority to continue with the hearing when there was no quorum.

The report noted: “The senator blasted Fariñas for his ‘intractability’ and blamed the other committee members for coming in late to the hearing.”

But, well, it seems the roses have done their trick.
