Heads up, motorists!
“The Makati City government announced that the ‘number coding’ scheme would be suspended on April 1 (Holy Wednesday), April 2 (Maundy Thursday), and April 3 (Good Friday) in observance of Lent and on April 9 (Araw ng Kagitingan) which is a public holiday,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.
The report noted: “It would be recalled that the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had already announced earlier that for all other areas of Metro Manila, the number coding is to be suspended on April 1 (Holy Wednesday), Maundy Thursday (April 2), April 3 (Good Friday), and April 9 (Araw ng Kagitingan).”
The following are additional traffic-related reminders from the Makati City government for the Holy Week:

Some streets in the barangay will also be closed on Apr 4 (Black Saturday) for the “Salubong” preparations and on Apr 5 (Easter Sunday) for the traditional Easter Sunday parade. Rerouting will take effect from today Apr 1 to Apr 5 (until events are finished).
5. Motorists are advised that all vehicles traveling along J.P. Rizal/Estrella should take the following alternate routes:
a. Vehicles coming from Guadalupe and going to Manila are to turn left to Estrella and proceed straight to EDSA to their destinations.
b. (Along Kalayaan Avenue/Makati Avenue) – all vehicles coming from Manila and going to Guadalupe taking Kalayaan Avenue, turn right to Makati Avenue, turn left to Buendia, and proceed straight ahead to EDSA.
c. (Along Valdez St./Makati Avenue) – all vehicles coming from Manila bound for Guadalupe taking Valdez St., turn right to Makati Avenue, turn left to Buendia, and proceed straight ahead to EDSA.
The report pointed out: “When the number coding scheme is enforced, affected vehicles may make use of the ‘window hours’ from 10 am to 3 pm. There are however no window hours in the cities of Makati and Las Las Piñas.”
