Congratulations, Makati. You’ve just been named the selfie capital of the world! That’s at least according to Time.com. “The city, part of metropolitan Manila and home to 500,000 people, produces more selfies per capita than any other city in the world,” writes Chris Wilson on Time.
The magazine built a database of more than 400,000 Instagram posts with the “selfie” tag and geographic coordinates, ranking 459 cities in total. Finally, a list where we shot past Manhattan, would you believe? It only ranked second with 202 selfies per 100,000 people.
And just to seal our “social media capital of the world” tag, Cebu makes it to the top ten, landing on number 9 with 99 selfie-takers per 100,000 people.
Um, congratulations? See the entire list here.
