A digital billboard on the very busy intersection of Makati Avenue and Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City was ordered shut down today by Mayor Abigail Binay after someone accidentally played pornography on it yesterday. Oops.
Mulong Sermonia, who was driving in the area when it played yesterday, posted a video of what he saw on Facebook.
“What’s that?” Sermonia’s passenger shouted in Tagalog in the video
“It’s porn!” Sermonia replied.
Of course, the 33-second video was later taken down for pornographic content, but not before Filipino netizens screenshot the clip and re-posted it.
In the video you can see a male on top of a female having sex, with a “team viewer” box in front of it. This means someone accidentally broadcast the porn from their personal computer to the huge digital billboard.
Team Viewer is a desktop application that allows remote access and desktop sharing.
Sermonia, who is a computer programmer, can be heard in the video — which has since been taken down — urging viewers “not to carelessly use remote.”
“Upon being informed of reports of inappropriate images being shown in the billboard located at Sen Gil Puyat Ave. cor Makati Ave. Mayor Abby Binay immediately ordered the owner of the billboard to cease and desist from operations last night,” Makati City’s business permits head Maribert Pagente told the Philippine Star.
While the porn incident may be funny to a lot of Filipino netizens joking about it online, City Hall isn’t laughing.
Pagente said Binay’s office would be investigating the incident and possibly file charges against the person liable for airing the porn.
“Pending such investigation, the billboard shall remain closed,” she said.
