A Makati City councilor has been injured after figuring in a car crash in Makati City earlier today.

Makati City 2nd district Councilor Nemesio Siddons Yabut Jr. was traveling along Ayala Ave. to Yakal St. from Kamagong St. at around 1am today when his Mercedes Benz with plate number VFP-939 hit the rear left corner of a Nissan Frontier pick-up truck parked outside the Makati City police headquarters in Barangay (Village) San Antonio, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

No one was aboard the pick-up truck owned by TV Network ABS-CBN when the crash happened, Radyo Inquirer reported. Yabut was rushed to the Makati Medical Center after experiencing pain on his shoulder.

According to the police, Yabut “reeked of liquor” when he was brought to the hospital. Police Maj. Gideon Ines of the Makati City police told ABS-CBN News that Yabut came from a party before the crash.

Yabut recently lost his Congressional bid for Makati City’s 2nd district to incumbent Congressman Luis Campos, the husband of Makati Mayor Abby Binay.

Campos received 90,736 votes while Yabut got 63,245 votes, according to the latest partial, unofficial results from the Commission on Elections.

Authorities said that Yabut may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property.
