“A majority of senators on Thursday, Marc 12, let the Sandiganbayan know they were going to back the proposal to place Senator Juan Ponce Enrile under house arrest given his advanced age and frail health,” reports Leila B. Salaverria in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The report noted: “Fifteen senators co-signed a letter Sen. Tito Sotto sent to the antigraft court’s Third Division, wherein he conveyed their sentiments and attached a copy of his privilege speech urging compassion for the 91-year-old Enrile.”
For the record, the senators who signed the letter are the following:

- Sen. Franklin Drilon
- Sen. Sergio Osmeña III
- Sen. JV Ejercito
- Sen. Nancy Binay
- Sen. Gregorio Honasan
- Sen. Ralph Recto
- Sen. Sonny Angara
- Sen. Lito Lapid
- Sen. Cynthia Villar
- Sen. Bongbong Marcos
- Sen. Bam Aquino
- Sen. Grace Poe
- Sen. Loren Legarda
- Sen. TG Guingona
- Sen. Chiz Escudero
The following senators did not sign the letter:
- Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago
- Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV
- Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano
- Sen. Pia Cayetano
- Sen. Koko Pimentel
Enrile is currently confined at the Makati Medical Center for pneumonia. His official place of detention is at the Philippine National Police General Hospital in Camp Crame due to his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.
