Set to implement the newly enacted Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced it will be purchasing breath analyzers and will be training select personnel how to use them.
In a Philippine Star report, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Virginia Torres disclosed that they are working with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regarding the purchase of the said gadgets. Torres however, failed to mention how many units they will be getting since this will depend on the budget allocation.
The breathalyzers will be operated by select members of the Philippine National Police and the Metro Manila Development Authority. Additionally, the legal intoxication level will be set when the new law’s implementing rules and regulations is released within four months.
