LTFRB will soon impose PHP1 million fine for ‘colorum’ buses

You won’t believe how much the current fine is.

“Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Winston Ginez said they will impose heavier sanctions for bus operators plying ‘colorum’ vehicles, which are either unregistered or driven outside their registered route,” reports Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.

Ginez explained that they will impose a PHP1 million fine for those committing the offense for the first time. This, according to the report, “is a substantial increase from the current PHP6,000 fine.” This would be accompanied by the cancellation of the franchise covering the concerned colorum vehicle.

Then, for the second offense, the franchises of the entire fleet would be cancelled. This will also be accompanied by a fine of PHP1 million.
