LTFRB vows to have GPS devices on all buses by 2015

Maybe they should send all drivers to driving school first.

“According to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the government is targeting to equip all public utility buses (PUBs) nationwide with global positioning system (GPS) devices by the end of 2015,” reports Kris Bayos in Manila Bulletin.

Mind you, the LTFRB has not yet issued the memorandum circular (MC) compeling operators to buy GPS for each of their PUB units, but that hasn’t stopped LTFRB chair Atty. Winston Ginez from declaring that”the simultaneous installation of the device at the LTFRB Central and Regional Offices will start by January 2015.”

Ginez said, “We are hopeful in installing GPS devices in all 23,000 PUBs nationwide by 2015.”

The number Ginez stated refers to the total number of registered city, provincial, tourist, and shuttle buses nationwide.
