The lack of a certain sticker is enough to get bus companies in trouble.
“The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) board recently slapped the Alps bus company with a PHP100,000 fine after it was found that two of its buses did not have stickers designating the front seats as meant for persons with disabilities,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.
The report noted: “Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Winston Ginez and board member Ariel Inton inspected a total of 73 Alps buses.”
The report further revealed that “of the buses inspected, 10 did not display fare guides; 72 did not have signs directing passengers to contact the LTFRB for complaints; 14 had defective seatbelts; eight did not have seatbelts at all; eight had no fire extinguishers; three had engines in need of repair; one had an unregistered engine; two had broken windows; and 14 had broken tail lights.”
