The Philippines is now gearing up for the Undas break (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day) which runs for two days starting tomorrow. Both Nov. 1 and 2 were declared special non-working holidays, making it a 4-day weekend.
The annual holiday virtually puts the entire country to halt, with people getting a break from work and traveling to their respective provinces to visit departed relatives.
It’s such a big deal that the Manila Police District revealed today that over 15,000 people have visited Manila’s four main cemeteries — the Manila North Cemetery and Manila Chinese Cemetery in Sta. Cruz, Manila; La Loma Cemetery in Caloocan City; and the Manila South Cemetery in Makati City.
People were advised not to bring any deadly weapons or else they’ll be confiscated by one of the 33,000 police officers that will be deployed to cemeteries across the country.
Transportation is affected too.
While LRT-2 and MRT-3 will have regular operations, LRT-1 announced yesterday that it will be following its weekend schedule tomorrow and on Friday.
The first trip will be at 4:30am for both Roosevelt and Baclaran stations. The last trip from Roosevelt is at 9:45pm while the last train leaves Baclaran station at 9:30pm.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) also announced that the number coding scheme will be suspended in all major thoroughfares until Nov. 5 (Monday).
This is good for those who need to go on road trips but will surely make for extra bad traffic.
