Good news for commuters: Passengers can now bring liquids inside Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) trains after its management announced that it has lifted its ban on bottled water and other liquids.
In a tweet posted today, the LRT-1 said that the ban on bottled water and other liquids in the LRT-1 will be lifted starting today.
“For all our beloved passengers, effective today on April 2, 2019, the ban on bottled drinks and other liquids is now lifted inside the LRT-1,” it said in the tweet in Filipino.

Before the LRT-1’s announcement, the Metro Manila Rail Transit System (MRT-3) and the LRT-2 also lifted their liquid ban on Feb. 20.
The liquid ban started in all Metro Manila trains in January following deadly bombings in Mindanao, which heightened alert nationwide. At least 20 people died when a church in Jolo, Sulu province was bombed twice on Jan. 27.
Bottled liquids were banned, following a directive from police as they can be used as “liquid bombs.”
