The Liberal Party (LP) has postponed the presentation of its senatorial slate for the 2016 elections.

Originally scheduled on Fri, Oct 9, it has been moved to Mon, Oct 12, the first day for the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs).

“In a statement released on Thu, Oct 7, the LP media bureau explained that they have delayed the proclamation of its candidates for the Senate to give Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista more time to make his decision,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Meanwhile, the LP also talked about the “withdrawal” of former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino from the possible lineup of senatorial candidates.

“The decision of prospective candidate MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino to withdraw from consideration in the Daang Matuwid Coalition slate, and to enable Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista additional time for reflection and to consult with his family, requires the postponement of the scheduled presentation of the senatorial slate of the Daang Matuwid Coalition. We believe this additional time for discernment is in the best interest of the parties and candidates concerned,” stated the LP media bureau.
