Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines) announced today that they will release a PHP10 (US$.20) commemorative coin to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of General Antonio Luna, who led troops in the Philippine-American War.

One side of the coin features a portrait of Luna, whose life story was the subject of the surprise hit film Heneral Luna in 2015. The other side features the general on a horse.

The coin also features the words dangal (honor), tapang (bravery), and dignidad (dignity).

Luna was a revolutionary during the Spanish war and is recognized as one of the Philippines’ most brilliant and capable military generals of all time.

He was assassinated in 1899 by Filipino soldiers during the Philippine-American war.
