These are spot-on.
Facebook user Kenneth Jayson Recto shared a now-viral post on Saturday of artworks showing Filipino actresses turned into Disney princesses.
In the photos, we see Liza Soberano as Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach as Pocahontas, Maymay Entrata as Mulan, Nadine Lustre as Jasmine from Aladdin, and Kathryn Bernardo as Moana, among others.
Recto told Coconuts Manila through a Facebook message that he started making the artworks after his sketch of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray gained attention.
“A lot of people commented that she looked like a Disney princess, so that’s where I got the idea to create a [Disney] series,” he said in Filipino.
He shared that he made the artworks on his laptop using Autodesk Sketchbook and his drawing tablet. “Each digital painting took up to four to five hours to make,” he said.
He said he grew up watching Disney movies and that the films resonated with him. He also said that fellow artists inspired him to create his own series of artworks.
The Facebook post had over 43,000 likes and 87,000 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens applauded Recto for his work.
CJ Pangilinan said in Filipino: “This is so good! So talented!”
Justin Brylle Carbonell Villarias said: “These look so nice bro!”
Maria Concepcion Reyes said in Filipino: “It fits them perfectly. It’s like they’re not actresses, it’s like they are the Disney princesses.”
Seeing that Cinderella was not part of the art series, Lovely Light Baybay said: “I would like to see Cinderella as well.”
Princess Ann Comia said she wished there were also Disney princes.
Mabz Anthony Baguio joked: “Also do an artwork of Thanos, he’s a Disney princess.”
