The key to a peaceful dinner? Don’t talk about politics, especially if you’re in a room full of politicians.
Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri hosted a dinner for nine senators from rival political parties. Surprisingly, everyone got through the night. It even looks like they had fun!
“No politics last night, just fun, fellowship and food!” said Audrey Zubiri, the senator’s wife, on a photo she shared on Instagram.
Invited to the Zubiris’ home were senators Cynthia Villar, Nancy Binay, Loren Legarda, Manny Pacquiao, Gringo Honasan, Panfilo Lacson, Richard Gordon, Sherwin Gatchalian and Tito Sotto.
The group was composed of nearly half of the Philippine Senate, which has a total of 24 members.
Manny Pacquiao and Sherwin Gatchalian are neophyte senators elected in the recent May elections.
Panfilo Lacson and Richard Gordon ran for presidency in 2004 and 2010 respectively. Gringo Honasan ran for vice presidency in 2016.
