A man has died after being crushed by a log in a freak road accident in Valenzuela City this morning.

The incident first made its rounds online after netizen John-Oliver S. Magat posted about it on Facebook.

“Just passed by this on my way to work. KeepSafe Everyone,” Magat wrote in English and Filipino.

His photos show how a log loaded on an Isuzu tractor head trailer bashed the windshield of a white Isuzu Elf, hitting the upper body of the man driving it.

SP01 Hanival Pariñas of the Valenzuela City Police told Coconuts Manila over the phone that the victim was identified as Ronald Hular Cantado, 38-year-old, from Tondo, Manila.

The incident reportedly happened at around 7:10am.

The vehicles were traversing the McArthur Highway in Valenzuela City when the incident occurred. Both stopped in front of the South Supermarket for a red light. According to Pariñas, the victim might not have seen the logs protruding from the vehicle in front.

Cantado died on the spot, Pariñas said. The unidentified person he was with when the incident occurred is safe.

The trailer driver identified as Dickson Servito Libante, 39 years old, from Meycauayan, Bulacan will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
