Outgoing Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim’s plans of leaving a white-sand public beach in Manila will not be coming to fruition.
The massive reclamation and development plan, which was a major project of the Lim administration, will be abandoned due to the said “health risks” posed by Manila Bay’s waters.
In an Inquirer News report, William Tieng, chair and chief executive officer of Manila Goldcoast Development Corp. (MGDC), said they are instead planning to put up a huge beach pool within Solar City. The area is being developed into a residential, business, commercial, tourism and arts hub standing on 146 hectares of reclaimed land.
