Thousands of students and faculty members got stranded inside campuses or in flooded streets on Thursday owing to the late suspension of classes. The development led the Department of Education (DepEd) to issue a reminder to local government officials to monitor and closely coordinate with PAGASA regarding class suspensions.
In a GMA News report, DepEd assistant secretary Tonesito Umali said the late announcements on Thursday resulted to students getting stranded and soaked in the rain. He reminded local government units to be more diligent in monitoring weather updates so they can issue the class suspension orders earlier.
