Sen. Leila de Lima’s former driver surrenders in La Union

Ronnie Dayan — Senator Leila de Lima’s former driver — has surrendered to authorities in La Union.

“Initial reports said Dayan turned himself at 11:30am on Tue, Nov 22 in Sitio Turod, Barangay San Felipe in the town of San Juan, La Union,” reports ABS-CBN News Online.

“It may be recalled that the House justice and human rights committee, which conducted a probe on the alleged proliferation of the drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa, had summoned Dayan to the hearings but he never showed up,” reports GMA News Online.

That was why the House of Representatives issued a warrant of arrest against Dayan for contempt, pointing out that he “failed to appear before the Committee on Justice despite proper service of subpoena.”

There were allegations that Dayan had served as De Lima’s bagman for the so-called Bilibid drug trade.
