Leeroy New’s Aliens of Manila may just be the coolest ‘Of Manila’ account there is!

After @TitasofManila, a slew of “Of Manila” accounts burst on the internet it felt like your entire extended family was on the Internet. They’re all funny, sure, but they’re also very derivative of Titas. Soon, the jokes and the gimmick felt tired.

Last weekend, we were on the Internet when several people we follow let out a joyous hurrah almost all at the same time! At the recently concluded edition of the TEDxDiliman talks, CCP 13 Artists Awardee Leeroy New launched his “Aliens Of Manila” series, available on several social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, and most intriguingly, Vimeo, where the trailer can be found.

Crediting “a certain New York-based viral photography blog site,” Aliens of Manila “plays upon the idea of offbeat characters who thrive on the edge of the urban landscape,” the description of the video reads.

It features “personalities who practice on the fringe as its models.” Dressed in Leeroy’s super trippy wearable installations, they look like fashionable extraterrestrials, who’ve just discovered the Manila.

We’re actually still stumped from watching the video. It’s so trippy and highfalutin and we can’t wait to see its social media accounts updated!

So we ended up watching Coconuts TV‘s episode on the Filipino artist. Check below:
