At least 19 vehicles were involved in a collision on the C-5 Ortigas flyover’s northbound lanes this morning at around 11 am.
According to GMA News, a motorcycle rider was also killed in the crash.
The truck driver publicly apologized for the crash and said in a radio interview it happened because the brakes failed.

“What happened was the brake’s gave out on my way down. I was careful, but I lost my brake. Then the collisions happened,” Juan Esteban told DZMM in Filipino, an ABS-CBN News affiliate, in an interview.

According to an Inquirer.net report, several cars, a taxi and two motorcycles were involved in the accident.
Authorities have already cleared northbound lanes earlier this afternoon after they were completely blocked by the damaged vehicles causing massive traffic jams on Ortigas Avenue and C5.
