The lawyer of slain transgender Jennifer Laude’s family is now caught in a legal war against the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
“Atty. Harry Roque Jr. yesterday filed a petition for contempt before the Supreme Court against AFP chief of staff Gen. Gregorio Catapang, Camp Aguinaldo commander Brig. Gen. Arthur Ang, and AFP spokesman Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc,” reports Edu Punay in The Philippine Star.
The report noted: “In a 17-page petition, Roque accused Catapang, Ang, Cabunoc of violating the confidentiality rule on disbarment proceedings when they announced the filing of their complaint against him with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) last week. He also wanted the three AFP officials to be imprisoned for three months and fined with PHP30,000 each.”
The AFP filed a complaint against Roque filed last Nov 4, “accusing the lawyer of violating the Code of Professional Responsibility when he accompanied Laude’s sister and her German boyfriend, Marc Sueselbeck, when they breached the perimeter fence of Camp Aguinaldo on Oct 22.”
The AFP had wanted Laude to be disbarred.
