If you’re an adult confronting a misbehaving child, you’re expected to keep acting like an adult. However, the teacher in this story failed to do that.
A teacher at Agripino P. Santos Elementary School in Laoag City now finds herself in a sticky situation after she mishandled a tiff between her two eight-year-old students.
The teacher supposedly got angry at one of the boys, identified as “James” (not his real name) after he wrote on his classmate’s face. James explained that he did it because he got irked at the other boy for refusing to remove a bag that he (the other boy) had placed at the back of James’ chair. In retaliation, James got a ballpen and scribbled on his classmates’ face.
“Sinulatan ko ‘yun mukha niya kasi ayaw niyang alisin ‘yun bag niya na sinabit niya sa likod ng upuan ko,” James said.
(“I wrote on his face because he would not remove the bag he had placed at the back of my chair.”)
“James went on to say that when the teacher saw what had happened, she also asked his classmate to write on his face in retaliation. His classmate, however, refused to do so,” reports Kim Lorenzo on ABS-CBNnews.com.
At this point, the teacher took a pen and wrote on James’ face. She also hit his head with a roll of tape.
“Ayaw sulatan ng classmate ko mukha ko kaya si Ma’am na lang ang nagsulat sa mukha ko tapos ipinalo niya sa akin ‘yun Scotch tape,” James said.
(“My classmate refused to write on my face, so my teacher did it and then she hit me on the head with a roll of Scotch tape.”)
The report noted: “Twinkle Valeriano, James’ guardian, said the teacher has admitted the allegations and has asked for forgiveness.”
“Nag-usap kami kasama ‘yun principal, guidance coordinator at PTA president at inamin niya na sinulatan niya ang mukha ng bata, at hindi raw niya sinadya na paluin ito ng Scotch tape,” Valeriano said.
(“I have talked with the teacher with the principal, guidance coordinator, and Parent-Teacher Association [PTA] president also present. She admitted that she wrote on James’ face. She said she didn’t mean to hit him with the roll of Scotch tape.”)
Valeriano added that she has already forgiven the teacher but she will still file a case against her. The teacher has refused to comment on the issue.
