At around 11:35pm on Tuesday, PO1 Judy Ann De Villa was on board a Cher bus, on her way home to Makati from Navotas when a Commando gang member, Juanito “Yoyoy” Arsenio, and two of his cohorts rode the bus and declared a heist in Cubao.
Arsenio pulled out a handgun and “forcibly took the handbag of the lady passenger who was seated just across him,” Jodee A. Agoncillo reports on Inquirer.net.
Feeling the call of duty, the 24-year-old De Villa introduced herself as a policewoman, pointed her gun at the suspect and asked him to surrender.
But Arsenio with the bag in tow, jumped out of the bus, while his accomplices ran elsewhere. De Villa went after him, cornered him and shot him in the ass. She was able to recover the loaded .22-calibre revolver.
The victim was able to recover her bag.
The suspect was brought to Quirino Memorial Medical Hospital where he is undergoing surgical operation. He will be charged with robbery-holdup, attempted homicide and violation of Republic Act 10591.
