Lacierda, Valte take the MRT

After all this time, they finally did it.

“Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda and deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte took the MRT Rush Hour Challenge days after netizens dared government officials to ride the Metro Rail Transit-3 so they could experience the hardships being endured by commuters daily going to and from work,” reports Roices Naguit on InterAksyon.com.

Lacierda and Valte took on the challenge and hopped on the ailing train Monday morning., September 1. They lined up at around 8:24am and boarded the train at the North Avenue Station at 9:01am.

The report noted: “The jam-packed train left Valte standing. She said she was only able to sit down when the train reached Ayala Station, the 11th station from North Avenue.”

The report then revealed that “Valte and Lacierda reached Taft Avenue Station in Pasay City at 9:41am and then took the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 1 to Central (Arroceros) Station en route to Malacañan Palace.”

Valte later tweeted that she “appreciate(s) all the commuters who bear w/ the service on a daily basis, we continue to ask for your understanding as we continue to push for improvements.”
