The employer who hurt Almira (not her real name) is now detained at the Umm Al Haiman Police Station in Kuwait, said embassy lawyer Atty. Emad Arab.
“Ako ay natutuwa at nagkaroon na ng resulta iyong ating pagsisikap na patawan ng kaso iyong gumawa at lumapastangan sa ating kababayan at yon nga ay nakulong na siya. Ipagpapatuloy ang kaso at ating tututukan ito (I am glad to know that the efforts to charge the person who abused our countrywoman has resulted in his arrest. We will keep a close watch on this case),” said Ambassador Renator Pedro Villa.
Almira is happy with the progress of her case. “Masaya po ako dahil na arrest na ang amo ko. Mas mabuti yon nasa kulungan siya. Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang kaso ko (I am glad that my former employer has been arrested and is now in jail. My case will continue),” she said.
Almira arrived in Kuwait in Dec 2011. She endured three years of physical abuse from her employer and mustered enough courage to escape only in Jun 2014.
Almira is currently undergoing treatment and counseling.
