“In the early hours of Friday, January 30, President Noynoy Aquino’s sister, actress Kris Aquino showed, up at the wake for the fallen Philippine National Police (PNP) Speacial Action Force (SAF) cops at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City,” reports GMA News Online.

The report noted that Kris’ appearance at the wake came “hours before the President is scheduled to pay his respects to more than 40 PNP-SAF personnel killed in a brutal firefight in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last weekend.”

The President had gotten flak on Thu, Jan 29, because he chose to go to a car plant opening in Laguna instead of being in attendance when the remains of the fallen PNP-SAF cops arrived at Villamor Air Base.

According to a report by GMA News correspondent Vonne Aquino, “(Kris) spoke with people at the wake and referred to her father, the late former Sen. Ninoy Aquino, who was brutally gunned down at the Manila International Airport in 1983.”

Kris reportedly said in Filipino: “I. too, lost a loved one in a violent manner, so I offer them my sympathy and prayers.”
