Kris Aquino took the train, that’s no reason to hate her

Haters, we want you to step back, take a deep breath and think back to the last time you were stranded in Edsa. Last night, Kris Aquino was in the same situation after strong rains triggered flash floods in Metro Manila, causing heavy traffic. So she took the MRT. So did Manny Pacquiao who – strange –  alighted at the GMA-Kamuning Station and walked all the way to ABS-CBN. Why didn’t he get off at the Quezon Avenue stop instead? Mystery.

In any case, please don’t hate on Kris because she took the train. The question is, why did some media outfits think it was worthy of a headline. (Sample: “Heavy traffic forces Kris Aquino to ride MRT”. Please, she did it of her own volition, and she looked like she enjoyed it, too.) Anne Curtis takes the train. So have Enchong Dee, Julia Montes, Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban. It’s no big deal, people.

If at all, the last thing our perenially packed train system needs right now is an endorsement from celebrities like Kris Aquino and Manny Pacquiao. Think: Do we really want even more people to take the train? We don’t think so, either.
