Queen of all media Kris Aquino is said to have paid the biggest amount in terms of taxes, not the famous Philippine billionaires, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has disclosed.
Aquino, who is the youngest sister of President Benigno Aquino III, paid nearly PHP50 million in income taxes in 2011.
Businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan ranked fourth with PHP 25.99 million.
ABS CBN News also reported that executives from Ayala companies were also included in the list of top taxpayers. Among them are Bank of the Philippine Islands president Aurelio Montinola III (PHP24.47 million in taxes) and Manila Water president Gerardo Ablaza who paid PHPP22.64 million in taxes for the year 2011.
