ABS-CBN news anchor Korina Sanchez was in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, on Fri, May 22, to mark the fifth anniversary of her show, Rated K. As expected, she was there to distribute slippers as part of her advocacy.

Sanchez explained that she is currently on leave from her news anchor duties to focus on her graduate studies in journalism via the online study programs of Ateneo Graduate School and London School of Economics.

Now, unless you’ve been living in another country or an alternate universe, you’d know that Sanchez is the wife of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas.

Roxas, a member of the Liberal Party, is expected to run for President in 2016.

Anyway, in the middle of distributing slippers, packs of rice, and bracelets, Sanchez disclosed that Roxas would be announcing his political plans in July.

First, she told Norman V. Mendoza of the Cebu Daily News, that she didn’t think Roxas would team up with Senator Grace Poe. I don’t think that there will be a Roxas-Poe tandem in the presidential elections. It has not been discussed during their meetings,” she said.

Sanchez then went on to highlight Roxas’ best qualities, such as his “experience, honesty, integrity, and intelligence.” She added that Roxas “helped to attract more call centers in the Visayas,” as well as “brought in more medicine, built more schools, acquired fire trucks for LGUs, had CCTV cameras installed, and brought more patrol jeeps and boats in the Visayas than any other offical.”

Sanchez quipped: “No one has been able to do that before.”
