This is one complicated story.
“At around 4 am on Thurday, Dec 19, Korean national Young Jun Lee was rushed to the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City after he was allegedly stabbed by his Filipino driver at the Blue Wave Commercial Center along Diosdado Macapagal Avenue,” reports Mike Frialde in The Philippine Star.
The report, citing information from case investigator SPO1 Genomar Geraldino, said the victim, “was taken to the hospital by a passing taxi driver after he was seen crossing the boulevard bleeding.” Young had been at the commercial center to wait for his Filipino girlfriend Raquel Mateo, “who promised to return half of the PHP4.4 million in cash she allegedly took from him two weeks ago.”
Young was waiting for Mateo inside his Toyota Fortuner sports utility vehicle (UJQ-459). With him in the vehicle was his driver, Froilan Escarmoso. At some point, Young disclosed to Escarmoso that he would have Mateo arrested if she didn’t arrive and return the cash she had taken. This disclosure supposedly prompted Escarmoso to draw a knife and attack Young. Young managed to get away despite being wounded. Escarmoso also fled the scene.
Police are speculating that Escarmoso, who is now on the run, was probably in cahoots with Mateo. According to the report, “Further investigation likewise revealed that Escarmoso is a cousin of Young’s former girlfriend identified as Myra Buenaventura.”
