A 41-year-old Korean national was found dead inside his condominium in Manila on Fri morning, after he lost a total of PHP4 million playing baccarat in a high-end casino.

Prior to his death, Baek Seung-ryeong had already lost PHP3 million, and “he joked about killing himself if he would lose more,” the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports.

The grim discovery of Baek Seung-ryeong’s body was made by his stay-in helper, Mirla Vivas. She said that Baek had a necktie “loooped around his neck and tied to a cabinet.”

Baek, who hails from Gangnam district, was last seen alive drinking beer inside his unit. His remains were brought to a funeral home for autopsy.
