National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents have arrested a Korean man who is allegedly involved in hacking the system of a local telecommunications company.
The suspect, Lee Sun-man, was arrested inside his condominium unit in Makati, where he operates his business.
Lee allegedly hacked the phone services of a telecommunications company, making it possible for him and his clients to make international calls at the price of local calls.
The NBI said Lee receives payments through online banking.
Recovered from the scene were five subscriber identity module (SIM) boxes and thousands of SIM cards. Each SIM box can hold a hundred cards.
Authorities believe that Lee earned a lot, based on the number of SIM cards recovered in his house.
Lee refused to give a statement.
He will be charged with violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act and the Access Devices Act. —report from Zyann Ambrosio, ABS-CBN News
