“Senator Koko Pimentel III on Tuesday, January 20, asked Senate Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC) Chairman Senator Teofisto Guingona III to cite Makati Mayor Junjun Binay and six others in contempt for defying the show cause orders in the Senate hearing on the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall II building,” reports Ernie Reyes on InterAksyon.com.
Aside from Binay, Pimentel also wanted to cite in contempt the following:
1. Prof. Tomas B. Lopez
2. Eduviges “Ebeng” Baloloy
3. Marjorie De Veyra
4. Atty. Eleno M. Mendoza
5. Engr. Line Dela Pena
6. Bernadette C. Portollano.
Pimentel said these Makati officials have “unduly refus(ed) to appear before this subcommittee notwithstanding the valid issuance of subpoena ad testificandum for hearing.”
Pimentel recalled that Binay had asked for “advance copy” of the questions he would be asked in the probe.
“Pardon me because I don’t understand why Makati City officials are on different level that they have such a right,” Pimentel quipped.
