Halloween has become a big thing in the Philippines these days, with neighborhood kids often competing amongst themselves to come up with the scariest costumes. Well, one boy named JC Kong just won — bigtime.
Kong became an internet hit after he dressed up as the victim of a murderous, pointy-fanged Ronald McDonald — complete with a dead-eyed Ronald dummy — during a school event in La Loma on Friday. For those out there who think Ronald McDonald was pretty creepy to begin with (us, for one), the costume is a perfect illustration of that unsettling undertone made manifest.
The costume is cleverly designed to put JC’s feet literally in Ronald’s shoes. With JC’s arms sticking out of his own blood-soaked shirt and a pair of fake legs dangling from the front, the costume creates the illusion that the bloodthirsty Ronald is carrying around JC’s mauled corpse.

Among those impressed by JC’s costume was The Philippine Star, which featured a video of him in the get-up on their Facebook page. The video, shot by JC’s uncle, Jaypee Kong, has been shared almost 1,900 times and viewed more than 111,000 times since it was posted late last week.
In an interview with Coconuts Manila on Facebook Messenger, Jaypee said it was he and JC who conceptualized the creepy costume.
“He wanted Jollibee and McDo for his costume. I decided then that it should be Jollibee carrying McDo on his back but we decided against it because it was hard to make Jollibee’s costume,” Jaypee said.
The easy workaround they settled on simply swapped JC in for Jollibee. Watch the video shot by Jaypee below, which was taken in his nephew’s school, Sacred Heart Academy of La Loma.

Jaypee said the costume was completely DIY.
“I sewed it myself. It didn’t need to look beautiful because he was going to use it for trick or treat. People won’t really notice if it was well made or not. The uglier, the better,” he said.
Well, congrats, Jaypee, because you did a great job! It’s ugly as hell, and easily one of the creepiest Halloween costumes we’ve ever seen.
